Woodstock Real Estate Update: December 2014

Woodstock real estate salesOur last Woodstock real estate update showed an expected slowdown in the local housing market, reflecting an annual trend that shows up year after year. The holidays are generally a slower season for home sales, simply because people are busy decking the halls and hitting the mall! Sellers often don’t want to deal with showing their homes amid all the holiday hustle and bustle, and buyers may put off their real estate search in favor of enjoying the season. However, the buyers who are still active during the holiday season may be more motivated.

Below, check out the single family detached homes data for last month in both Woodstock and in Cherokee County.

December 2014 residential real estate statistics in Woodstock and Cherokee County, Georgia

Woodstock Cherokee County
# Homes Listed 100 285
# Under Contract 84 232

While the number of homes listed went down, the number of homes under contract went up, as well as the number of homes sold. The average number of days on market went up slightly, but again, such a change is to be expected as many people put off buying or selling during the holidays. The average sales price increased for Woodstock, indicating highly motivated buyers, though Cherokee County did not see the same effect.
