What Are Buyers Looking for in a Home?

know what buyers are looking for when selling your homeIf you are trying to sell a home in Cherokee County, you may be wondering what buyers are really looking for. What makes someone pass over one Woodstock home for sale in favor of another? The National Association of Realtors recently released its Home Features Preferences report, so take a look at some of the most in-demand home features.

Buyers want newer homes.

Many buyers, especially in the South, want newer homes (5 years or less). Buying a newer home is often considered to be easier or less risky, but if you are trying to sell an older home, you can counteract this line of thought by making sure your home is in excellent condition, and looks it. Neat, manicured landscaping and fresh paint will help assure potential buyers that the home has been well maintained. A home warranty can also help put their minds at ease.

Buyers want aging-in-place features.

Buyers 55 and up are much more likely to want a single-level home than buyers under age 35, and the demographic is also more likely to want a bedroom on the main floor. The report also notes that one of the features buyers are willing to pay the most for is an in-law suite.

Buyers want comfort and convenience.

Other top features buyers are looking for according to the report include a walk-in closet in the master bedroom, en-suite master bath, a home that is cable/internet ready, and central air conditioning. Obviously that last one is non-negotiable here in Georgia!
