Cobb County Real Estate: Developments in Kennesaw

Kennesaw constructionThere are some exciting changes in store for the Kennesaw real estate market. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, city officials and planners are proceeding with plans to overhaul downtown Kennesaw, while the area’s local university, Kennesaw State, is planning to expand its student housing.

Mayor Mark Mathews told the MDJ that Kennesaw has lacked the infrastructure that gives similar nearby towns so much character and provides a central gathering space for residents. The redesign of this north Georgia Georgia railroad town will bring it more in line with historic Acworth and the much sought-after Marietta Square district, creating a vibrant and accessible place for Kennesaw residents to shop, dine, and live.

The multiple real estate development projects on the way in Kennesaw include:

  • Mixed use project featuring 250 apartments and retail space– The development was situated for walkability, with access to the plaza area and the pedestrian underpass that leads to Depot Park.
  • Public parking deck– This five-story structure will provide much-needed parking to help ease traffic congestion and make it easier for residents and visitors to access and enjoy Kennesaw.
  • Dallas Street development- Over 7 acres of land on Dallas Street are slated for another mixed-use development with 12,000 square feet of commercial real estate and 250 units of residential space.
  • Kennesaw senior housing- This 74-unit building will provide active senior housing in easy reach of Kennesaw’s amenities and attractions.
  • Kennesaw State University student housing- Cobb County recently approved KSU’s plans to expand student housing, with a unique development of 2,000 and 3,000 square foot Craftsman style cottages.
